In one of our first posts on the kate+kris blog, we showcased an event very close to our hearts – Kate’s sister’s 40th birthday at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. The night was a once in a lifetime event, one that had been carefully planned and included family from around the country. With our closest friends and family, we celebrated the life of a mother, wife, friend, daughter, & sister. Someone who embodies what it means to be selfless. Intricate details and emotion encompassed the evening, as if it were her wedding day.
It was also in the midst of this night, that we introduced a complete, natural light approach to our photography. This approach is something we have both utilized as much as possible in our separate businesses, but as our brand has joined two approaches and techniques, one key thing that defines the Kate+Kris style is the ambience captured using natural light.
We believe that the closer the images are to your experience, the more powerful the impact & emotional connection will be.
A wedding day is composed of intricate details and packed with emotion that the photographer has to pay careful attention to. The essence of these moments are captured by Kate+Kris without distracting flashes of harsh light. Guests can ignore the “invasion” of a camera during the most intimate moments. While some moments or venues do not allow for completely flash-free photographs, we limit our usage to the reception. Our photographs are carefully crafted to tell the story of your wedding day in the same way that you & your guests experience it.
Another key element of the Kate+Kris style is the natural, unposed appearance of our bride & grooms in portraits. In contrast, when hiring a professional wedding photographer, we all want someone who knows how to make us feel comfortable and look beautiful in front of their camera.
So what’s it really like working with Kate+Kris? It’s simple. We are here to provide direction so that you are stunning in your images. We spend time studying magazine editorials and inspiring imagery so that we know what body positions and angles flatter, and which do not. However, we do not physically place you in poses because it is the moments in between that create truly flattering portraits. Instead, we make suggestions and keep your interactions personal and natural to who you really are as a couple. We provide direction on how to position your body so that the result is an exquisite presence in each photograph.
